Welcome to Catholic Schoolhouse – Springfield, Missouri Chapter
Enrollment is open for the 2018-2019 school year. We will update this page with next years details soon.
We’re glad you’re here to learn a little more about our chapter! We are gearing up to start Catholic Schoolhouse in the Springfield, MO area for the 2017-2018 school year. Registration is still open for the upcoming year in all classes for all ages from Pre-Kindergarten through High School.
- When: Wednesday’s 10:00 am to 1:45 pm
- Where: St. Joseph the Worker parish in Ozark, MO (1796 State Hwy NN)
- Dates: August 23, 2016 to May 2, 2017
- Ages: All ages welcome, through high school graduation
We meet for 24 weeks throughout the academic year with breaks throughout the year and on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Field trips will be planned for some of those 2nd Wednesdays.
Our day will begin with morning prayer, chorus and the Pledge of Allegiance. Children of all ages, from eager 3-year-olds through high schoolers, will then move into their academic classes. Babies are welcome to stay with their mama’s and young children will have fun in the nursery where their tutor will have fun, educational activities prepared for them. Students will learn and review memory work, enjoy hands-on art and science, and a snack. Dialectic and rhetoric age classes will encourage discussion, logic, and public speaking. We will all join back together for closing prayer and announcements. Then we may decide to share lunch and fellowship, or just head home.
This fall, we will be using the Year 1 Tour Guide, History Cards, and Audio CD. Each family is responsible for purchasing a Year 1 Tour Guide from the Catholic Schoolhouse Store. Optional, but very helpful, resources to purchase are the Year 1 History Cards and Year 1 Music Memory Work CD. Both are also available at the Catholic Schoolhouse Store. Discounts on these materials are available for registered families.
Your role as a parent participating in Catholic Schoolhouse is to observe your child in class and to offer a helping hand if needed. Throughout the week, parents can choose to use the Tour Guide to help their children master the material at home. The depth and choice of topics covered is under each family’s discretion; however, just a few minutes of review per day will greatly enhance your child’s ability to participate in class. In addition to the Tour Guide, the History Timeline Cards and the Memory CDs are simple tools that can help the children with retention.
Catholic Schoolhouse is loyal to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church. We are looking forward to an exciting and fun-filled year! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!!
